We made it back safely from all of our recent adventures/trips and are enjoying a little bit of down time before our trip to Trujillo in 2 weeks. In Cuzco we had the opportunity to serve in a number of ways in the seminary and two different churches as well as a school. We each gave our testimonies, sang in Spanish, Nolan preached, I taught in Awana, and we gave devotionals in the dorms at the seminary. But we also had a great time of fellowship with the missionaries! The Loveall family had us over for lunch and took us white water rafting with the Watleys! We also had meals with the Cockerels, Watleys, and Rojas. We also had the chance to visit Machu Pichu and other Inca Ruins as we went back to Cuzco. We also made it back safely from Chinchil, a completely different kind of trip. We took a 21 hour bus ride to Huanuco (a tiny mountain town) leaving at 7:00 A.M. Sunday and arriving at 3:00 A.M. Monday. From there we took a pickup truck and loaded all our luggage and people (14 total) into it. In Peru there's always room for one more! This trip was a little different because not just the ARRIBA Students went, a group of 7 (including a family of 3) from my church and one of the Fetzer teachers came as well. Throughout the week we held VBS for the children from 2 years-old - 6th grade. Our theme was "Cambio de Rumbo" or "Change of Direction/Path." My lesson was on Saul and how when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he changed so much! He went from persecuting Christians and not believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God to preaching about Jesus and His work on the cross to all who would hear! An interesting thing that I had never thought of before in this context is that Saul/Paul was a "good person." He was religious, moral, had studied the Bible, probably did good works, and may have had a lot of money. But all of these things cannot save one from the penalty of sin. We also got the chance to see two Peruvian weddings, and Kyle somehow ended up as a witness for one of the couples! It was a great blessing to fellowship with the Christians there! Thank you especially for your prayers for safety on this trip. God certainly protected us coming down the mountain! We all made it to our homes safely! |
AuthorMy name is Kimberly and I just finished my sophomore year at Faith Baptist Bible College. I am going on this trip because that is where God is leading me at this point in my life. I am in the Elementary Education program at FBBC, and there is a large number of Spanish speakers in U.S. schools as well as Christian schools abroad that need teachers. I am seeking to follow God's leading and to serve Him to the best of the ability He has given me. Archives
